The Hangover – Movie Review

If you are into a great laugh to remove boredom in your life, then check out this movie… I was going through a lot lately and at least I found a way to cheer up my day.

The Story is about Doug, played by Justin Bartha and his 3 friends Phil (Brad Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and the wacky nerd Alan (Zach Galifianakis) who had an inadvertent wacky adventure to Las Vegas, the Sin City as some mostly call it, 2 days before Doug’s Wedding for a Bachelor’s Party. But in fact, the next morning, they cannot remember any single thing happened during that night.

The story opens up 5 hours before the wedding and Phil is on the phone talking to Doug’s Fiancé’ telling her…”We lost Doug!” and they are totally screwed up. Then the story begins 2 days before that incident.

All the guys meet up with Doug riding a Mercedes which he borrowed from his father in-law, together with Alan his soon to be brother-in-law who is somehow socially challenged, Phil, a teacher who collected money from his students, and Stu, a dentist who is being treated as a crap by his controlling bitch girlfriend, arguing at that time telling her that it’s not a bachelor party but a wine tasting to Napa valley.

When they arrived at Vegas, they checked into Caesars Palace on one of the best suites. The four then changed their clothes and went to the rooftop and made a toast for Doug, having one shot each of Jägermeister.

Then the next morning, a woman walks out of the room carrying his stilettos and Stu’s face is slumped on the floor with Blood on his shirt. Phil is sleeping on the floor and Alan just woke up on the couch. The whole room is in a total mess, chairs were burned, stolen statues, champagne bottles lying on the floor and a tiger inside the bathroom. All three had terrible headaches and Stu just realized he lost a tooth. Phil then started looking for Doug but is nowhere to be found instead they saw a baby inside the closet. Then the adventures start for the search for Doug.

With no clue as to what transpired during that night and so much little time as tomorrows is the wedding, they traced back from the start what really happened and figuring out where and how things happened. They started on the police car they have for which they have realized that they stole it and the Mercedes is gone. They have also encountered a gay mafia played by Ken Jeong as Mr. Chow.

Lots of adventure, so many twists and turns that all are of a good laugh!

My rating for the movie… 10 awesome stars! So much fun! During the credits of the movie, pictures are shown; allowing the viewers to come to their own conclusion… there you will find what really happened…

“I wish I could turn back time”

The usual thoughts of people who somehow had some things way back that he/she must have done that change what is their future now…

As we ponder on life, somehow there is this point in our lives, mostly in particular during childhood days, that we wish we could go back and make a little bit, let say, meaningful…

But we all know that this wont happen, Just a wish….

All we can do is to face the future, learning the things we regret (or didn’t) and try to live life to the fullest… I believe that we are all products of our life’s experiences and that if we were to change any of these experiences we would definitely change who we have become….

Speaking of products, i had the time to pass by some classic commercials on youtube and reminds me of my childhood…. bet you still remember these as well…. Here compiled are the Top 10 Filipino Classic Ads… Enjoy!

10. Royal True Orange – an 80’s commercial featuring “Joey”, i forgot his name, but he is now an author and somehow successful… He released a book about relationships… or something like that…

9. Palmolive “I can Feel It” – Who can forget this? The lovable face of Alice Dixon and the Remake of this version by the late Rene Requiestas…

8. Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdog – I remembered that this commercial was a craze during my childhood… exchanging the guy for the hotdogs… the phrase…. “Goodbye chocolates, Goodbye Spaghetti, Goodbye Hotdog… ay?!……………Goodbye Carlo….”

7. 90 ’s McDonalds Commercial – a very touching ads, showing Grandpa which somehow interchanged the names of his grand daughters but recalling his favorite Grand daughter… A very heart warming story…

6. Sabado Nights – A nice ad by San Miguel way back 1995 featuring the very sexy Ina Raymundo…. Up to know, there is still a Sabado Nights…. But i guess you are too old for it if you know this commercial…

The Blind Side – Movie Review

Late afternoon yesterday, after having a ride with my new toy, just laid back for a while and watched the movie “The Blind Side” starred by Sandra Bullock.

The story depicts the life of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American kid who is a product of a broken home, taken cared of and adopted by the Touhy’s, a rich white family who helped him unlock his full potential. Oher became the 2009 NFL draft playing as an offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens.

For 17 years, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) has been in foster care with different families. Everytime he is sent to a new home, he usually runs away, feeling lonely and depressed. His fathers friend enrolled “Big Mike” in a christian school after the father convinces the coach that he is a natural athlete.

At Wingate Christian School ( a fictional representation of Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis Tenessee ), “Big Mike” met SJ, the son of Leigh Anne Touhy. One night, the family saw “Big Mike” strolling in the park, shivering in the cold. Leigh Anne pities his situation and offered “Big Mike” a place to stay. The next morning, much to Leigh Anne’s dismay, He saw the bed sheets properly folded and saw “Big Mike” walking out to the driveway. She then offered him if he could stay for thanksgiving, which he did. From then on, “Big Mike” slowly became part of the family and got close with SJ and Lily.

With Leigh Anne’s kind heart, She then enrolled “Big Mike” to school and discovered that He has a 98th percentile in “protective instinct” but low in every aspect. They decided to join him in football to have scholarship but needs to have a 2.5 GPA. Due to his enormous size and titanic strength, he catched the eyes of every football coach.

Leigh Anne hired a private tutor for him to raise his grades and with the help and support of the teachers, the did succeed… Big Mike got 2.52 GPA.

The only conflict in the story is the time when the NCAA called Big Mike the same time he is about to choose the school wherein he is going to play, the organization suspected that the Tuohy’s forced Michael to select Mississippi, rather than Tennessee, his home-state team. But everything was resolved.

The film ends with the 2009 NFL Draft, showing the real-life Michael Oher being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.

REACTIONS:

The only thing i find anoying in the movie is that i have not heard “Big Mike” say thanks to the Touhy’s. Yet i find the movie amusing and with moral values. Sometimes in life, it takes someone or another factor that brings out the best in a person.

I would rate the movie 4 stars.. Since the movie “Speed” and “The Net”, i loved Sandra Bullock, some signs of ageing yes but still she have those cute smile and a nice b***. Try to watch the movie and see what i mean…
